WHITNEY WINSOR
Welcome to my portfolio, where my mapping and cartography skills are in progress and on display.
I am currently a GIS Advanced Diploma student at Selkirk College in Castlegar, British Columbia, Canada. I am originally from Leaf Rapids, Manitoba, Canada where I first discovered the science of landscape ecology and habitat dynamics. I completed a B.Sc. in Biology at Nipissing University in 2012. Tree growth and influential growth factors was the focus of my university thesis. I was granted an opportunity to work with a research team studying woody biomass heat and energy alternatives project in Finland during a 6 month internship placement following my university studies.
Professionally, I have worked for a forest resources inventory research facility, where I developed skills in dendrochronology and its field data collection method precursors. I later worked as an Environmental Technician for several years, which lead to an Environmental Consulting position.
I am looking for opportunities where I will be able to combine the technical skills of my current GIS program with the original interest that started it all; forest ecology and habitat dynamics.
Take a moment to look through my projects, and feel free to get in touch for more information.
